Steady drizzle for most of the day, maybe 20 minutes of direct sunshine.

Not much activity on my part other than reading the extensive hut literature and hut book, kinda dating back to the hut’s construction in September 1970. There is also an historic assessment of the hut which concluded that it is close to original condition.

The main changes have been the replacement of canvas hammocks with slats and mattresses, and the building of a concrete hearth. Oh, a stainless steel skin has been put over the original benchtop. And, it has been painted twice.

Very few people have ever come here considering it’s been around for 45 years and the hut book is only about a third full. It’s in pristine condition, all but one of the visitors have seemed to look after it.

Raining still. At this rate it will take a week for my sleeping bag to dry out.

I sleep with it over me in the hope that some warmth will help with the drying process.
