Slaty Hut | Mt Richmond Forest Park
Those with energy in excess after the 1300m trudge up the hill to Starveall hut can continue on to the well sited Slaty, just adjacent to the bushline, you get the mountain beech forest and the tussock tops in one location.
A standard NZFS hut from back in the day it has been renovated: the open fireplace replaced with a firebox; painted inside and out; and is as comfortable as any along the route.
